Moderated Screenings are a service provided for artists to get feedback in a constructive setting. It brings dance filmmakers together to present raw footage, drafts, works-in-progress and newly finished films to their peers for artist-centered, constructive feedback. These sessions are informal showings centered on discussion about the footage being shown, primarily for the artists to get reactions, constructive criticism, and process-related feedback on these works. Have you ever shot a video and felt that images don't look "right?" If you are wondering why the images you capture lack luster, then this workshop is for you! Telling a compelling story with video is not just about getting movement and/or dialog on camera that you can string together in the edit bay. The art of video comes down to manipulating the physical light surrounding your subject on set, understanding how the camera captures this light, and knowing how to manipulate this captured light during postproduction. Learning to control light and color on set and in post will allow you to establish mood, manipulate audience focus, represent a sense of internal conflict, portray time of day/passage of time, allude to an environmental location, or even transport your audience to another country or historic period.
