A fortuitous encounter between two icons of film and dance, Pina Bausch and Chantal Akerman,
One Day Pina Asked… is Akerman’s singular look at the work of the remarkable choreographer and her Wuppertal Tanztheater during a five-week European tour. More than a conventional documentary, Akerman’s film is a journey through her world, a world composed of striking images and personal memories transformed. Capturing the company’s rehearsals and including performance excerpts from signature works such as Komm Tanz Mit Mir (Come Dance with Me, 1977) and Nelken (Carnations, 1982), the director applies her unique visual skills to bring us close to her enigmatic subject. Brighid Greene made her way from California to New York by way of Tisch School of the Arts. Brighid facilitates the exhibition and creation of dance film as Communications Associate at Dance Films Association. She is currently in the “Bessie” Award winning immersive theater production Then She Fell by Third Rail Projects and recently performed in the Baroness is the Future by ANIMALS Performance Group.

Josephine Decker just premiered her first two narrative features at the Berlinale Forum 2014. Noted by The New Yorker to be ushering in a “new grammar” of narrative with her film work, Josephine also plays accordion with the Main Squeeze Orchestra and raises awareness about environmental issues through her performance art.
Sylvie Vitaglione is a Phd candidate in the Department of Cinema Studies at New York University. Her dissertation explores the role of landscape, urban space and architecture in experimental dance films.
Sorry I Missed Your Show is a dance (on) film screening and discussion series that provides opportunities to view dance works that were controversial, sold-out, or are simply open to revisitation as well as historical works, dance documentaries or other movement-related films. Selected works are curated by guest artists.
