Well Contested Sites

Well Contested Sites is a 13- minute dance/theater film that explores the issue of mass incarceration and the complexity of experiences faced by those who are in prison. The films cast is comprised of Bay Area performing artists, some of who were previously incarcerated. The piece was developed and filmed on Alcatraz Island. Screenings of Well Contested Sites at festivals, universities and prisons throughout the U.S. and internationally, often include panel discussions with the cast members, artistic team and restorative justice practitioners. Well Contested Sites received the 2013 ADF International Screendance Jury Award.
