More Americans die every year from drug overdoses than in motor vehicle accidents. In 2014, 2,489 deaths were reported due to overdose in Pennsylvania. Because of the boom in prescription pain medication, heroin and related drug overdoses increased by 20% in 2014. On June 21, 2014, I lost my dear friend Sean to this horrible epidemic.
“In My Life” is a documentary film about friendship, love and loss and how dance and film has acted as an exceptional healing method. Over the past three years I’ve had the opportunity to work with dance colleagues, dance friends and past and present students. Through the pain and grief has come the choreography that has shaped this film.
