Examining dance film beyond the movie theater screen, Dance on Camera explores dance films in both commercial and artistic contexts with filmmaker and choreographer Celia Rowlson-Hall and conceptual video artist Brian Gonzalez/ Taxiplasm. Rowlson-Hall will screen commercial dance films she’s made for Lee Jeans, Keller Shoes, and Kate Spade as well as her most recent film for Metal Magazine, UNTO THE LOCUSTS, with performances by Bobbi Jean Smith of Batsheva, Megan LaCrone of New York City Ballet, and Rowlson-Hall, also a Bessie Award winning performer. Gonzalez, who has worked with various fashion labels and whose work has been shown at Art Basel-Miami and Vogue.com, will screen AS ABOVE, SO BELOW and IT CAN’T BE TRUE.
