Dance New Amsterdam Studio 6 RSVP to brighid@dancefilms.org with Dance Film Lab in the subject line to reserve your place. The focus of this panel with Liz Wolff and Nick Dawson is to arm attendees with concrete knowledge about the spectrum of distribution strategies that are available. This panel specifically focuses on what distributors are looking for in project for various platforms including festivals, television, and digital/internet based platforms. Liz Wolff Liz Wolff has over 15 years of professional experience in the performing arts, starting with a long performing career in dance. She became a founding member of Cortez & Company [Contemporary Ballet], and moved to Cleveland to be a founding member and principal dancer with Verb Ballets, performing works by Martha Graham, Paul Taylor, David Parsons and Heinz Poll. In 2007, Liz moved into the film business, first in domestic distribution at The Weinstein Company, and then in the position of Head of Theatrical Sales for Oscilloscope Laboratories. Moving to the exhibitor’s side of the film distribution business, Liz became an assistant film buyer for The Film Group theater chain’s locations up and down the east coast. Liz currently runs her own consulting business for independent film distribution. Nick Dawson Nick Dawson is the managing editor at Filmmaker magazine. His 2009 book, Being Hal Ashby: Life of a Hollywood Rebel, published by the University Press of Kentucky, is the first biography of Hal Ashby. He is also the editor of Hal Ashby: Interviews (University Press of Mississippi) and Dennis Hopper: Interviews (University Press of Mississippi).
IFP, in partnership with the editorial staff of its in-house publication Filmmaker Magazine, will program and mentor feature films to play at the reRun, allowing for filmmakers in the process of self-distribution to garner theatrical runs in New York City. The first three titles to receive week runs as part of this deal will be Jacob Krupnick’s Girl Walk // All Day, Sara Blecher’s Otelo Burning, and Susan Youssef’s Habibi.
