Dance Film Lab is an informal work-in-progress screening centered on discussion and on April 1st, it will be moderated by filmmaker and Professor Gabri Christa. DFL sessions offer a fun and creative space to gather and share information on methods and tools, and address technical, practical, and artistic challenges, while providing artists with process-related feedback.   Attend the Lab:

The screening will feature films chosen from submissions in various stages of production. Take this opportunity to connect with artists and audiences.

Submit Your Work:

Interested artists may submit their project via the Dance Film Lab submissions page.

A few things to consider when submitting your work:

• Dance Film Lab welcomes everyone from seasoned filmmakers to those beginning to work in the medium.
• Entrants whose films are chosen, must be able to attend the upcoming Lab on April 1st.
• Submissions may be from film projects of any length and in any stage of production. Due to time constraints during the Lab, up to 15 minutes of a project can be screened. We ask that you make note of excerpt(s) of your work.
• Our programmers will ask for HD files of your film (ProRes, h264 preferred), and film stills.
• It is FREE to submit your work to be considered for this Lab

About Gabri Christa

Gabri Christa came to filmmaking after a successful career as a choreographer and dancer.  She choreographed and danced with companies such as Danza Contemporanea de Cuba (Cuba) and the Bill T. Jones Dance Company (USA). Gabri was invited to Pangea Day Festival as one World’s 100 most promising filmmakers. Her film One Day At a Time won Best Short Documentary at the Harlem International Film Festival. Awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship for Choreography and an ABC television award for creative excellence, a fellowship from the Atlantic Foundation for Equity in Brain Health and funding from the Netherland America Foundation for the film section of MAGDALENA. She is a Professor of Professional Practice at Barnard College, Columbia University, Department of Dance, where she teaches dance and film and directs the Movement Lab.

Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
