Dance and Tech Party: Celebrating Innovation in Production

May 9, 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

$15 – $35
Credit: David Andrako, 2014 BRICLab Residency   As part of Dance Films Association’s year-long 60th anniversary celebration, the Dance and Tech Party highlights a legacy of production support, and looks ahead to the new generation of innovators and trailblazers in the dance film genre. The Party will feature innovative dance films that have been funded by DFA’s Production Grant Program, along with a special presentation of newly-developed scenes from Yara Travieso’s transmedia production La Medea. La Medea is a made-for-camera dance-musical and Latin-pop variety TV show inspired by Euripides’ Greek tragedy that is presented simultaneously as a live performance, live-stream broadcast and feature film. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in a raffle with prizes ranging from dinner with La Medea‘s Creative Team, to 10-Class Series from Gibney Dance, to One Year-Long Membership with DCTV, to One All-Access Pass to the 2017 Dance on Camera Festival, to a special gift from Kings County Distillery, and more. Raffle tickets can also be used for activities, like getting your portrait drawn by artist Walter Michael DeForest! Wine and beer provided free of charge courtesy of Lagunitas Brewing Company and New York Women in Film & Television. Event space courtesy of Splacer, “a marketplace where people can list, discover and book unique spaces.” All proceeds from this event benefit Dance Films Association and DFA’s Production Grant Program.
