June 26, 2017, New York, NY — Dance Films Association, Inc. (DFA) and the Film Society of Lincoln Center (FSLC) are pleased to announce new dates in the summer season for the 46th edition of the Dance on Camera Festival, to be held July 20 – 24, 2018. Since 1996, the festival has been an annual wintertime event at the Film Society of Lincoln Center, presenting an array of dance films from imaginative, genre-stretching shorts to documentaries that bring light to untold stories and lost histories, alongside retrospective selections, filmmaker panels, cutting edge media and art installations, and free community and student programs.
“There is nothing more fulfilling for DFA than to adapt our programming to be more accessible to the general public and beneficial to dance filmmakers,” says Paul Galando, President of Dance Films Association. “We continue to see growing enthusiasm for dance on film worldwide, and with this shift, the Dance on Camera Festival will be available to wider audiences, including summer tourists visiting NYC, educators building the programming into their summer research, as well as new collaborative industry partners and sponsors. We look forward to bringing together diverse multi-disciplinary artists, exchanging ideas about dance film with our global community of filmmakers, and supporting and celebrating their work on screen in July 2018.”
