Eye on Dance: Interview with Moses Pendleton and Jonathan Wolken Celia Ipiotis and Jeff Bush,  1987 USA | 28m

Saturday January 28, 6:15pm Walter Reade Theater

Dance on Camera Festival includes several major anniversary programs, including the 30th anniversary of EYE ON DANCE, the ground-breaking Public Television interview program that brought dance into your living room for so many lucky years. It was the brain child of producers Celia Ipiotis and Jeff Bush. Celebrating this landmark occasion, the Frieda and Roy Furman Gallery of the Walter Reade Theater will feature a 23-minute loop of highlights that will run on a monitor for the duration of the festival. Here’s your chance to catch glimpses of host Celia Ipiotis interviewinglegendary dance greats such as Alvin Ailey, Agnes de Mille, Edward Villela, Yvonne Rainer, Sara Rudner, Katherine Dunham, Jimmy Slyde and other notable icons of the dance, and meet Ipiotis, the woman for whom good dance and good talk were synonymous.
Another anniversary, celebrating its 40th, is that of the ever- evolving dance collective, Pilobolus. Don’t miss STILL MOVING: PILOBOLUS AT 40, a new 38minute doc by Jeffrey Ruoff which will have its fine cut debut at Walter Reade on Jan 28, preceded by a lively EYE ON DANCE historic TV interview, conducted by the ever-game Ipiotis with Jonathan Wolken and Moses Pendleton, two of the troupes’ founders, getting together for the first time inn public after a five-year rift. And what a show that turned out to be!
After the EYE ON DANCE screening and a Q&A,  Ipiotis will interview Ruoff about his relationship to Pilobolus, “a troupe  often imitated but still sui generis” as it hits 40.
