On Pointe

On Pointe - Dancer Juliet Doherty

On Pointe

ON POINTE tells a compelling story of a mother and daughter struggling to define themselves. The story follows Paige, a young ballet dancer, as she prepares for the biggest audition of her life. At the same time her mother, Lynda, tries to come to terms with her looming divorce. Paige feels her mother is holding her back from her dreams. Lynda fears her daughter may repeat her own mistakes and endanger her future.

ON POINTE will be a more positive, empowering and accurate look at the world of dance. From television shows like “Dance Moms” and “Flesh and Bone” to films like Black Swan, ballet is presented as a stereotype; a caricature of helicopter parents, drugs, abuse, and eating disorders. Ballet is truly an art form full of passion and love. It is a positive influence on a dancer’s life, giving them a sense of purpose, dedication, and a drive to succeed. Unlike others of its kind, this film won’t be an angsty teen romance or a melodrama about a psychopath. ON POINTE is about a young dreamer following her passion and hopefully creating deeper connections with both friends and family.
