Gatsby in Motion

Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby” has been adapted into a stunning modern ballet in Kiev, Ukraine, by the choreographer Dwight Rhoden with the world-famous dancer Denis Matvienko. Gatsby in Motion will tell of its hatching, the result of a remarkable and unlikely collaboration between Ukrainian, American, and Russian artists at a time of war and ordeal for Ukraine. This project stems from Bertrand Normand’s longstanding desire to make a documentary about the creation of a modern ballet, which came after he directed Ballerina, a film about dancers from the Kirov Ballet released worldwide. Meeting this desire, Gatsby in Motion will tell of an historic event and will show that in spite of war, art can unite people.

Nicolas Lesoult and Helmut Dosantos (co-producers)

Dwight Rhoden (choreographer)
