Taking dance film beyond the movie theater, Dance on Camera will present an exciting new program: an installation of short dance films by 18 directors at 25CPW Gallery, complementing a showcase of the work of Diego Agudo Pinilla in the exhibit “Dance on Paper: Sylvie Guillem” with an Opening on Thursday January 31 at 6:00pm.
The additional films we have selected for this installation inherit an experimental tradition whose origins can be found in European avant-garde movements of the twenties. Some are themselves experimental in nature, some are not; but they are challenging, meditative, and brave.
