The evening marks the third annual collaboration between DFA and Solar 1 to present live performance in conjunction with dance film.

David Fishel is a filmmaker/ video-artist based in New York, NY who dabbles as an absurdist poet,  animated storyteller, experimental sound artist, and obnoxious performance artist.  Mr. Fishel is a graduate of University of Iowa where he focused his studies in Cinema and Comparative Literature and Intermedia / Performance Art. Fishel has worked and collaborated with Hans Breder, Phil Niblock, Jill Sigman/Thinkdance, Luke Murphy, Jason Batemen, John Kolvenbach, and The Hatch-Billops Collection.

In 2007, Fishel developed an ongoing performance / video art series that lives on the internet entitled DaveyDanceBlog. The project has featured appearances from Laura Peterson Choreography, Eckert+Sorensen-Jolink, Celia Rowlson-Hall, and Indelible Dance among others. DaveyDanceBlog spans over 6 years and currently includes over 150 distinct performance videos. His film work has screened at festivals internationally, while his music videos, promos and shorts are routinely broadcast globally.

ChEckiT!Dance is an all female modern dance company focusing on gender issues, female identity, objectification and the exploration of traditional gender roles. We seek to create a crack in the stereotypical infrastructure of female standards and archetypes. In doing this, we wish to bring awareness and gender equality while walking the line of dance, dance theater and performance art. Founded in 2010 by Allison Brzezinski and Christina D’Arrigo, ChEckiT!Dance has continued to push boundaries incorporating original text, music and props within our work. We have presented pieces throughout Manhattan and New Jersey in notable venues such as Dixon Place, STEPS, The Works Studio, Central Park, the Ailey Studios, FigmentNYC, Sukha Arts Center, The Kraft Center at Columbia University, Dance New Amsterdam, The Gershwin Hotel and more. We also produce the Annual ChEck Us OuT Dance Festival: A Celebration of Female Choreographers in Central Park, each July.
