  About Dance Films Association Dance Films Association (Dance Films), a nonprofit membership organization, builds upon founder Susan Braun’s vision by encouraging choreographers to enter the world of filmmaking, for filmmakers to discover the rich history of dance, and for audiences to engage with the broad spectrum of these films. Today, Dance Films serves the global dance film community by providing membership opportunities, connecting artists and organizations, fostering new works for new audiences, and sharing essential resources.   Position Summary Dance Films is seeking a paid, part-time Communications Assistant to join our team, based out of Greenpoint, Brooklyn. This is an opportunity to explore the dance film genre, work collaboratively on a small, passionate staff, learn and hone new skills, and experience first-hand the creative work of a non-profit arts organization. Our ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be highly organized, and enjoy connecting with other arts organizations. They will work in our Greenpoint office at least once per week and assist in our programming and events. They are social media savvy and will be able to make recommendations to our staff for the promotion of relevant internal and external content. They will have the opportunity to maintain a communications cycle related to our programming and events; including but not limited to workshops, film screenings, fundraisers, and the annual Dance on Camera Festival taking place February 12- February 16, 2016, marking Dance Films Association’s 60th Anniversary. Responsibilities include:   Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with the Dance Films team to create and maintain communications workflows and deadlines
  • Maintain a weekly communications schedule including updating content on a WordPress based platform, sending communications through Mailchimp, and coordinating social media circulation
  • Assist with writing, revising, editing and formatting of online content
  • Assist in selecting media (photos, videos) for posts and organizing marketing material
  • Assist in maintaining CRM, contacts database, and perform basic email list management
  • Participate in weekly meetings to discuss communications schedule and assignments
  • Track, analyze and report on online analytics
  • Execute some office administration such as sending donor acknowledgment letters and liaising with a bookkeeper
  • Report regularly to Directors
  Standard Requirements
  • Keen interest in dance film, new media, and technology
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with the dance film community and market research strategies
  • Superb attention to detail paired with the ability to multi-task
  • Knowledge of graphic design and photo/image manipulation techniques and software such as Photoshop
  • Knowledge of video editing software such as Final Cut Pro
  • Knowledge of CRM management platforms such as Mailchimp and Artful.ly
  Compensation and Commitment
  • $15 per hour
  • 10- 15 hours per week, flexible hours
  • Immediate Start Date
