Video Camera Buying Guide for Dancers
A guest article on our blog
by Mitchell Rose
Asst. Professor of Filmmaking
Department of Dance, Ohio State University
“Some people have been asking me for advice on purchasing a video camera. It can be pretty overwhelming out there with all the options available. It’s hard to say, ‘Buy this camera’ because the manufacturers change their model lineup every six months. But I can tell you some things to look for so you can scan the specs of a camera and make an informed decision yourself.”

Marcelo Gomes: Anatomy of A Male Ballet Dancer
by David Barba & James Pellerito
Kickstarter Project
“Marcelo is a dancer in transition. Despite his tremendous work ethic, Marcelo knows the career of a dancer is brief; and like all dancers, he worries about what he’ll do next. After two major surgeries, how much longer will his body hold up? With his reputation on the line, does he have the talent and drive to become a serious choreographer? These are also questions that will be explored in the course of the film.”
“Funds raised through this campaign will go towards covering remaining shooting costs including overseas travel as well as the staging of 4 outdoor performances involving Marcelo and/or his choreography.”
